Berbatov on course to recover in time for Chelsea

Alex Ferguson is still hopeful he will be able to call upon the services of £30.75 million summer signing Dimitar Berbatov in this Sunday’s visit to Stamford Bridge.

The Bulgarian striker was absent in last night’s 0 – 0 draw at home to Villarreal after picking up a knock in his debut defeat to Liverpool.

Ferguson told the club’s official website: “We’re working hard with Dimitar. We hope he’ll be fit. I think he’s got a good chance. He got a few whacks on Saturday against Liverpool. There were a lot of hard tackles on him and he got a tweak behind the knee.”

Having Berbatov back will only cause Fergie another selection headache as with Berba back, who will he play up front? Ronaldo will be back to claim his spot so surely either Tevez or Rooney will be benched? Still, with United seemingly unable to find the net at present, having as many striking options as possible is only a good thing; headache or not.
