Paul Scholes should be back in December

Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed Paul Scholes could be ready for first team action by mid-December. Scholes lasted just 15 minutes in United’s 3 – 0 victory away to Aalborg before injuring his medial knee ligaments and the midfield maestro has been out of action ever since.

Fergie confirmed Scholes had returned to first team training but denied speculation that he would be ready to return later this month in the derby away to City. Speaking at a press conference, Ferguson said:

“There’s no chance of him being back for City, absolutely no chance. We’ve pencilled him in for the week before the Japan trip. The week before, possibly. Paul’s doing very well, he’s kicking a ball, he’s doing a lot of straight running but that’s it.”

Ferguson is referring to the FIFA Club World Cup which will be played from 11th to 21st December 2008 in Japan.
