RSS

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a technology that is being used by millions of web users around the world to keep track of their favourite websites. It is a format for delivering regularly changing web content that allows the user (you) to receive all of our website updates without having to actually visit our website. Our website will come to you. Cool eh?

Getting started with RSS

If it sounds a bit too “techy”, don’t worry, it’s simple to get started. All you need is a feed reader; you can download one for free from a number of places (SharpReader for Windows or NetNewsWire for Mac) or alternatively you may prefer register for a web based reader such as those provided by Bloglines or Google.

Once you have your reader sorted, you’re ready to start subscribing. Head to your favourite sites and look for the RSS icon or a subscribe link and click it to subscribe - it’s over on the top right of the page, see it? You can now view your favourite site’s content via your reader. You can repeat the process for as many sites as you like.

Think of your subscription as you would a magazine subscription that costs you nothing. You subscribe and your information is delivered. If you don’t like it; you can cancel it at any time.
